A new partnership is gearing up to transform an existing development into the next Setai, this time in the Caribbean.
Toronto-based Altree Developments and The Setai Hotels announced a partnership that will expand and add to the Vie L’Ven St. Maarten and debut as The Setai St. Maarten, a 205-key hotel in Indigo Bay that will include private villas, according to a news release from the companies. The collaboration marks The Setai’s Caribbean debut. Construction is underway with 2028 targeted for completion.
The St. Maarten move is a step in the Setai brand’s continued growing international portfolio, expanding beyond its established U.S. and Middle East locations, including Tel Aviv and Miami Beach. A statement from the Nakash family — the owners of The Setai — said the destination complements their vision of “timeless luxury and cultural inspiration.”
Zev Mandelbaum, president and CEO of Altree Developments, said that teaming up with the Nakash family aligned with the firm’s vision for the island.
A number of other firms are lined up for the project, including HKS Architects, Leading Hotels of The World — to which Setai’s Miami Beach flagship hotel holds a membership — and Studio Munge. The resort’s teased offerings are numerous. They will include a beach club with dedicated cabanas and butler service, a Les Clefs d’Or concierge team, three pools, including an adults-only oasis, a 30,000 square foot destination spa, tennis and pickleball courts, as well as on-beach water sports, a children’s playroom, childcare programs and access to a protected nature reserve.
Five restaurant concepts, including Ocean Grill Beach Club and Jaya — both reportedly inspired by the acclaimed culinary concepts of The Setai, Miami Beach — will dot the resort.
The resort will feature both residential and hotel accommodations, including one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom layouts, spanning from approximately 620 square feet to more than 2,000 square feet, along with dual-key residence options expanding up to 6,000 square feet.
