This sale may, quite literally, be one for the books.
The longtime home of the late Gore Vidal sold for $3.75 million, below its initial ask of $5.7 million.
Vidal, the writer and all around man of letters, acquired the home in 1977 for just south of $150,000, Variety reported. Located in Outpost Estates, a neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills, the Mediterranean villa spans 4,800 square feet and features a double-height foyer, exposed-wood ceilings and, of course, two libraries.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom abode sits on a half-acre lot. The grounds include a tiled courtyard with a stairwell, a sunbathing terrace and a swimming pool.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency was the listing agent, according to Redfin, while the buyer was represented by Jeeb O’Reilly, who recently moved from Compass to Douglas Elliman. [Variety] — Cathaleen Chen
