If everybody had an ocean
across the U.S.A.
then everybody’d be surfin… unless your name is David Geffen. Unlike the Beach Boys, the billionaire entertainment mogul is done riding Malibu’s waves. He’s so over Carbon Beach that he was willing to take a loss on his last remaining property there.
Geffen’s last known Malibu pad – a tiny 1,473-square-foot Carbon Beach cottage – sold to an unknown buyer this week for $8 million, almost $2 million less than the $9.8 million he paid for it in 2008, according to property records.
The beachfront abode listed in May, asking $8.9 million.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency and James Rapf of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates had the listing.
Gaming and entertainment veteran Ed Fishman is following close behind Geffen. Fishman, who co-founded Access Records with Dick Clark, is asking $19.9 million for his beachfront Malibu pad, just south of Paradise Cove.
The 6,100-square-foot home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms with nearly 80 feet of beach frontage. It also has a koi pond and a waterfall in the entry courtyard. Ellen Francisco of Coldwell Banker has the listing.
Mel Gibson ditched the surf and settled into Malibu’s mountains, but he’s now looking for a new view. The actor and filmmaker listed his 6,578-square-foot wood-clad manor house for $17.5 million, Variety reported. Spread across 5.49 acres, the property has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The buyer also receives rights to the exclusive members-only La Costa Beach and Tennis Club, where the membership fee runs about $100,000 with an additional $670 in annual dues.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig listed his Sherman Oaks Mediterranean villa for $2.3 million, just two years after buying it for $1.8 million. Spanning 4,600 square feet, the 2003-built residence features a two-story entry, an open-plan living area, six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Alexis Nassif and Diana Diaz of Dilbeck Real Estate share the listing.
Leave it to beauty queen Kylie Jenner to attract a buyer for her 5,100-square-foot Calabasas starter home. The 19-year-old makeup mogul and social media star sold her two-story home for $3.15 million, about $750,000 less than its original asking price.
Jenner purchased the six bedroom and six bathroom property in March 2015 for $2.6 million. Tomer Fridman of Compass had the listing. April Lopez of RE/MAX Traditions represented the buyer.
