Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates just gained some yardage.

The veteran football player and his wife, Sasha Gates, who’s a cast member of E! reality show “WAGs” (which stands for “Wives And Girlfriends of professional athletes,” FYI), purchased a brand new home in Encino at its asking price of $6.9 million.

The 8,500-square-foot home on Hayvenhurst Drive has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The house features a floating staircase, screening room, glass-encased wine cellar and tasting room. Automated retractable doors open to an 800-square-foot covered patio and a backyard that has a basketball half-court and an infinity swimming pool, according to listing details.

Patricia Phillips of Rodeo Realty had the listing. Brittney Hinds of eXp Realty of California represented the buyers.

The tight end has been busy selling off properties as well. After first listing his 4,428-square-foot Hollywood Hills pad for $2.5 million in January of this year, it sold in July for $1.7 million. He’d purchased the five-bed, four-bath Skyline Drive property in 2013 for $1.6 million.

Gates and his wife also sold off a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom property in the Poway area in San Diego County for $1.9 million in May, at a $650,000 loss. He purchased the 6,841-square-foot home more than a decade ago for $2.5 million, according to the L.A. Times.

Gates is his team’s all-time record-holder for receiving yards (11,192) and touchdowns (111). He’s tied with former Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdowns by a tight end in NFL history. [LAT] — Subrina Hudson
