Lewis Brisbois has expanded its headquarters at the U.S. Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles.
The 1,200-person law firm is building out a 24,000-square-foot space on the 34th floor of the high-rise office building, according to a permit filing from the Department of Building and Safety.
Lewis Brisbois already occupies 236,000 square feet at the building, located at 633 West 5th Street.
At 72 stories, the 1.4 million-square-foot skyscraper is a staple of the Downtown L.A. skyline. The property, formerly called the Library Tower, held the title of tallest building in the West until the Wilshire Grand was completed last year.
Overseas United Enterprise Limited owns the office building. The publicly traded real estate developer and operator, based in Singapore, purchased the property from MPG Office Trust for $367.5 million in 2014.
Cushman & Wakefield handles leasing at the property. Jonathan Larsen at Avison Young represented Lewis Brisbois. John Eichler and Tyler Stark at Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord.
Lewis Brisbois isn’t the only law firm at the property. Other tenants at the site include law firms Gordon & Rees and Hinshaw and Culbertson, and insurance company Marsh & Mclennan. Last year, the global insurance firm inked a 15-year deal for 72,000 square feet at the property.
The building is also a staple among tourists looking to catch some of the city’s best views. It features a 43,000-square-foot observation deck on its upper floors, which includes a glass-clad slide that visitors can quickly take a ride on for a small fee. The 36-foot slide opened in 2016 as part of a $50 million renovation.
