A Cincinnati Reds’ first baseman has made a play well off of home base.

Joey Votto spent $10.5 million to acquire a new home on the Strand in Hermosa Beach, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Spanning 3,800 square feet, the modern residence includes four bedrooms and five bathrooms on three stories. There’s also a sleek, oceanfront deck, as well as a media room.

Amenities include 120-bottle wine wall, elevator, four refrigerators, four fireplaces and three dishwashers, according to marketing materials.

The property first hit the market for sale in May 2018 seeking $13.2 million.

Dennis Moloney of Strand Hill Christies International Realty had the listing. Kevin Pratt, also at Strand Hill, represented Votto.

Votto has been playing for the Reds since 2007. He signed a 12-year contract worth $251.5 million in 2012, reflecting the sports franchise’s biggest contract ever.

The baseball star isn’t the only professional athlete to have an affinity for the South Bay. In September 2017, the former home of retired L.A. Clipper Danny Manning hit the market for $21 million. The 6,390-square-foot property, located at Tennyson Place, is still on the market, though its asking price has since dropped to $17.5 million. [LAT] – Natalie Hoberman
