The buyer of a beachfront Malibu home owned by cosmetics heir Dean Factor that sold for $37.5 million last spring has been identified as retired TV producer Marcy Carsey.
The real estate buff and creator of such shows as “Roseanne,” “That ’70s Show” and “The Cosby Show” bought the 4,100-square-foot house at 23816 Malibu Road, Dirt.com reported.
The April off-market sale was first reported by The Real Deal. The official buyer was The Boathouse Trust.
Factor, a great-grandson of makeup pioneer Max Factor, and his wife, Shannon, bought the mansion in 2010 for $15.3 million. The couple had briefly listed it in January for $40 million.
The six-bedroom, six-bathroom estate, built in 1930, was once owned by Oscar-winning “Rocky” movie series producer Robert Chartoff.
The 0.4-acre property includes a three-bedroom, white clapboard house and a three-bedroom guesthouse, linked by shaded lawns, boxwood hedges and a swimming pool inside a red-brick deck.
The two-story guesthouse sits near the road and includes an attached two-car garage, while the gabled main house lies along the beach.
The main house has an eat-in kitchen with Viking appliances, an upstairs master bedroom with a sitting room and balcony, plus an outdoor kitchen and raised wooden deck. The guesthouse has two kitchenettes and an outdoor barbeque.
The narrow estate stretches from Malibu Road to the beach. Neighbors include such business people as Tom Gores, Alec Gores, Donald Sterling and Juliana Terian, plus celebrities that include Sting and Mel Brooks.
Carsey owns a real estate portfolio worth at least $200 million, according to Dirt.
In addition to her new Malibu retreat, the Massachusetts native has an oceanfront home on Malibu’s Broad Beach, a two-house Montecito estate, a Malibu ranch house, a mansion in L.A.’s Brentwood Park and several smaller houses occupied by family members. Her largest home, however, is a $100 million Encinal Bluffs compound next door to Kim Kardashian’s $70.4 million house at 33218 Pacific Coast Highway.
