At last, Jim Carrey has found a buyer for his ranch-style abode in Brentwood.

The deal closed Friday, according to people with knowledge of the transaction, for $17 million. That’s about a 41 percent discount from Carrey’s original ask in 2023.

Sotheby’s International Realty’s Graham J. Larson represented Carrey in the sale of 615 North Tigertail Road. Larson could not be immediately reached for comment Friday afternoon.

Carolwood Estates’ Sam Collins, David Parnes and James Harris negotiated the deal on behalf of the buyer. The identity of the new homeowner is unclear with the deed on Friday’s closing not yet recorded with Los Angeles County.

Carolwood declined to comment on the deal.

Brentwood, a community within the city of Los Angeles, is subject to the tiered Measure United to House L.A. tax on deals of $5.3 million or more. Billed as the “mansion tax,” it’s likely to cut into the “Liar Liar” and “Bruce Almighty” star’s profit. Still he walks away with a tidy sum in comparison to the $3.8 million he paid for the property in 1994. That’s the same year “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” made its debut.

It’s been a wild ride for Carrey’s former Brentwood estate, which has seen price changes and also changed listing agents over time.

The property first hit the market in 2023 for $28.9 million. A series of price reductions followed, with the home going into contract in December, when it was asking $19.8 million, according to listing sites. That deal didn’t get done and the home was relisted in February for $19.8 million, with the home most recently asking $18.8 million in May.

The incoming buyer gets a sprawling estate consisting of a nearly 11,000-square-foot home with five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Highlights of the residence include skylights, six fireplaces and an art deco-design theater complete with its own popcorn concession.

The outdoors is massive, with the residence sitting on a 2-acre lot that holds a tennis court, gardens, waterfall pool, pool house, sauna and steam room, according to the listing.

Any concerns of privacy are addressed with nearly 300 feet of hedges fronting the property.
