The Samueli family’s $5 billion OCVibe project is coming into focus.
The 100-acre mixed-use development next to Anaheim’s Honda Center will include a state-of-the-art live entertainment venue early next year, L.A. Business First reported.
The structure will comprise more than 18,000 square feet on the main floor with seating capacity for 5,000 attendees. An official name for the venue, as well as its first round of programming, will be announced in the coming months, according to Business First.
OCVibe’s entertainment venue is designed to host live events ranging from concerts and award shows to sporting competitions. The building will feature three levels of seating, eight bars including the exclusive Gallagher Club lounge and bar, and an open-air courtyard for guests. For performers, the structure will boast six dedicated dressing rooms, two private artist suites, gated bus parking and crew kitchens and showers.
The Stretto, a 62-foot steel art installation, will be built outside at the property’s southeast corner. Stretto Café will be open daily next to the concert hall.
Once complete, the OCVibe concert hall will join the neighboring Honda Center and the forthcoming Golden Bear music venue as dedicated spaces to host events of all sizes. The 300-person Golden Bear is slated to open in 2029.
Henry and Susan Samueli, owners of the Anaheim Ducks, are sinking billions into their efforts to transform the area around the Ducks’ Honda Center home into an entertainment hub for Orange County. That includes breathing new life into the Honda Center itself to the tune of $1 billion. Last year, the Samuelis filed plans to upgrade the 20,000-seat arena at 2695 East Katella Avenue, including new entrances and escalators, revamped and expanded food and beverage options, a club-level lounge, refreshed luxury suites and three parking garages.
The first phase of the OCVibe project is expected to open early next year with the 5,000-seat venue, the Katella Commons market hall, The Weave office building and the public Urban Park.
