The owners of Southern California restaurants Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre led Los Angeles County’s luxury home contracts last week with their Beverly Hills Flats residence.
Chris and Lisa Bonbright’s over 7,000-square-foot home at 712 North Arden Drive is listed for just under $18 million, or $2,538 per square foot.
That placed the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home in the No. 1 spot among signed contracts for the week ended March 22 based on asking price, according to the Eklund Weekly Luxury Report Los Angeles.
A total of 14 contracts were inked last week, which was down from 18 in the comparable period a year ago, according to the Eklund Gomes report. Asking volume of last week’s contracts fell 26 percent from a year ago to $99.5 million.
The weekly roundup, which is compiled by Marcy Roth of Douglas Elliman’s Eklund Gomes team, counts single-family and condominium residences listed in the Multiple Listing Service for $4 million or more.
Built in 1951, the top-priced deal in Beverly Hills Flats, was designed by Wendy Haworth. The designer also worked on the Bonbrights’ Gracias Madre, in addition to Felix Trattoria, which was created by Janet Zuccarini and chef Evan Funke. Funke is behind his namesake Beverly Hills Italian restaurant created with Westside Estate Agency co-founder Kurt Rappaport.
Other highlights of the Bonbright property include a leather-trimmed library, vaulted ceilings, outdoor walking paths and guest house.
The Agency’s Billy Rose holds the listing.
Nearby Brentwood is where last week’s next largest signed contract is located.
The home at 685 Elkins Road, which has counted Audrey Hepburn and Deborah Kerr as owners at various times, is asking nearly $10 million, or $1,639 per square foot.
A family trust is selling the home, according to PropertyShark records.
It has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms across a little over 6,000 square feet. Amenities include a media room, study and putting green.
Sotheby’s International Realty’s Jennifer Montague and Graham Larson are the listing agents.
