The famed Malibu beach house featured in “Hannah Montana” is available for rent by a “Rock Star” looking to live like Miley Cyrus’ fictional pop star persona.
The oceanfront manse at 30760 Broad Beach Road was listed on Airbnb for 10 free one-night stays, Realtor.com reported. The short-term offering coincides with the release of the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” celebrating the Disney Channel series’ premiere in March 2006.
The home was last sold in 1985 for $1.3 million and has been for sale since July when it hit the market with a $21 million asking price; the home is currently asking about $20.9 million. In the past, the home has also been made available as a rental property for anywhere between $60,000 and $80,000 per month.
Filming for “Hannah Montana” largely took place on soundstages, with the Malibu beach house only being used for exterior establishing shots. While the home inside doesn’t look anything like that of the fictitious Stewart family’s, the property has been transformed in preparation for the wave of “Hannah Montana”-loving Airbnb guests, marking the first time the home has undergone such a facelift inside.
Patterned wallpapers and bright colors and prints adorn the walls, which are decorated with images of Hannah Montana and an arrangement of her gold and platinum albums. Other decorative touches include a leopard-print chair shaped like a high heel shoe and pin boards framed by feather boas.
The most recognizable part of Hannah Montana’s home, her famous rotating closet, will be available for guests to use. The clothing storage rack, much like Cyrus’ character’s on the show, spins at the touch of a button and is packed with stage looks and sequined tops.
The 10 one-night stays will begin April 6 and run through April 16. Up to four guests per stay will be permitted, according to Realtor.com. — Chris Malone Méndez
