Newport Beach can cut another notch in its belt after seeing the close of a $33.5 million waterfront mansion this week to make for one of the city’s priciest deals so far this year–and priciest ever recorded in its Bayshores community.
The sale of 2668 Bayshore Drive is Newport Beach proper’s priciest deal on record this year and Orange County’s second most expensive home sale in 2026. Higher sales have been recorded in Newport Coast, an area that was annexed by the City of Newport Beach 25 years ago but retains a distinct identity in terms of residential real estate.

Within the Bayshores gated community, the home edged past the previous $33.2 million record holder to become the neighborhood’s priciest-ever recorded deal. Bayshores counts about 250 homes and is known for attracting celebrities and business executives, with John Wayne and Nicholas Cage once counting residences in the affluent community.
The off-market deal of 2668 Bayshore Drive pencils out to $5,115 per square foot for the five-bed, five-bath home spanning 6,550 square feet. The French chateau-inspired home counts about 87 feet fronting the bay.
Compass’ Michael Taormina and Coldwell Banker Realty’s Anne Stiefel co-listed the property. Stiefel, along with Coldwell Banker Realty’s Krista McIntosh, brought the buyer.
Taormina declined to comment on the buyer and seller.
Records through PropertyShark indicate a family trust was the residence’s long-time owner. A deed has not yet been filed to reveal the mystery buyer’s identity.
The sale comes after last month’s trade of an over 13,000-square-foot mansion at 36 Pelican Crest Drive in Newport Coast. The over 13,000-square-foot Tuscan-inspired mansion sold for $30 million, or $2,272 per square foot, after first entering the market last July for nearly $50 million.
So far, it’s 20 Coastline in Newport Coast that is the city and Orange County’s most expensive residential deal of 2026, after it sold off market in January for $43.6 million, or $2,436 per square foot. That purchase price bested even last year’s most expensive home sale in OC, which was the $42 million deal for 1 Pelican Crest Drive in Newport Coast.
