A mansion in Pasadena made famous by a 1980s television brawl just hit the market for an eye-popping sum.
The Arden Villa at 1145 Arden Road is up for sale for $45 million, Robb Report reported. The home served as the backdrop for the famous lily pond fight between Linda Evans and Joan Collins in the hit series “Dynasty” and has been featured in films like “Terms of Endearment” and “Billy Madison” and the music video for Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger.”
The home’s sellers themselves have a connection to Hollywood, as it’s currently owned by “Avengers: Endgame” co-director Anthony Russo and his wife, actress and producer Ann Russo. The Russos bought the home in 2019 for $15.6 million. The City of Pasadena designated the home a historic monument the following year.
If the property fetches anywhere near the $45 million asking price, it would set a new record for residential sales in the city. The current sales record for Pasadena is nearly $19.9 million, which was set last year with a roughly 1-acre property, Compass agent Brent Chang, who is marketing the Russos’ home for sale, told the Wall Street Journal. The median sale price for a single-family home in Pasadena was almost $1.6 million for the three-month period ending in April, representing a 2.6 percent drop year over year, per Redfin data cited by the Journal.
The home sits on nearly 3 acres and was designed for mining tycoon and railroad heir William Kennon Jewett in the early 1900s. The residence spans more than 18,500 square feet with eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms in total. The six-bedroom primary home on the lot is roughly 16,000 square feet and boasts amenities like a walk-in pantry, gym, game room, movie theater and wine cellar. A detached guest house spanning approximately 2,400 square feet was added to the property in the 1940s and has its own pool and gated driveway. The famous lily pond is next to the main swimming pool and spa, along with a fireplace and a pool house.
