Famed retail impresario Freg Segal’s daughter offloaded her 5,000-square-foot Toluca Lake home for $8.3 million in a deal that closed Wednesday morning.

Annie Segal first listed the property in March asking just shy of $10 million. In June, she shaved $1 million off the price tag, finding a buyer for the home located at 4343 Forman Avenue less than a month later.

Marci Kays and Jonathan Mogharrabi of Carolwood Estates represented Segal in the sale.

“This was the highest price pending deal in all of Toluca Lake, Studio City and Sherman Oaks, and now we’ve closed,” Mogharrabi said. “So even though there was a price adjustment… nothing else over $8 million is under contract in all these areas.”

Segal purchased the home in 2024 for $4.8 million and subsequently took on a full restoration — encompassing everything from plumbing to finishes — on the five-bedroom home, which was first built in 1954. The property features custom woodwork, a pool and spa, and a guest house.

Daniel Milstein of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California, who represented the buyer, declined to disclose his clients’ idenities but said they were international and touted Segal’s restoration work.

The Segal name is a throughline in Los Angeles retail. Fred Segal, who died in 2021, was behind iconic specialty stores which were all the rage in the 1990s and early 2000s — evidenced by the brand’s shout outs in blockbuster hits with fashionista protagonists like “Clueless” and “Legally Blonde.”

After the pandemic, the retailer faced some financial setbacks, eventually closing its last remaining brick-and-mortar shops in West Hollywood and Malibu in 2024. In February, Aritzia purchased the brand with plans to open a Fred Segal location at 8100 Melrose Avenue.

Annie’s Toluca Lake sale is not the only star-studded home that has faced price cuts or sold for a discount recently. In April, Meghan Trainor sold her Encino home at 4322 Hayvenhurst Avenue for $6.8 million after initially listing the 14,000-sqaure-foot mansion for $12 million in 2024. Earlier this month, Washington Wizards’ player Anthony Davis sold his Bel Air mansion at 2100 Stratford Circle for $32 million after the former Laker listed the home for $39.9 million.
