Billionaire real estate developer Stephen Ross’s purchase of 50 percent of the Miami Dolphins has been approved by the National Football League. The $550 million deal with franchise owner H. Wayne Huizenga includes half the Dolphin Stadium and 100 acres of surrounding land. Ross has been involved in negotiations for the team since 1990, when he made an offer to the original owner Joe Robbie. He also made an unsuccessful bid for the New York Jets about five years ago.
