Port St. Lucie gets finish-up jobs

With the new home market in Port St. Lucie suffering from a slowdown and some developers stopping mid-project, some builders are offering so-called “finish-up jobs,” completing a house for a small premium above the original cost. Locally-based Town & Country Home Builders and Virginia-based Fortis Construction have both finished such projects in the town. Typically, for finish-up jobs, companies charge the cost of construction plus around 10 percent, breaking even or showing a small profit. The builders say, however, that it helps save new construction’s tarnished image in the area.
