Miami-Dade crane-safety laws suspended

A coalition of construction and crane industry groups in Miami have won a temporary restraining order against the enforcement of safety ordinances passed by the county this spring, after a fatal crane accident at the Paramount Bay condo site in Miami killed two people and injured five. The coalition argued that the safety restrictions are too strict, and would render all 200 tower cranes in the city in violation of the law. Florida lawmakers have been unable to agree on any statewide crane safety measures thus far.
