The future of Miami’s Downtown Macy’s store, which also serves as the retailer’s corporate office for Florida, remains in limbo as Flagler Street languishes as a major retail corridor. Macy’s Florida chairman Julie Grenier says Flagler must develop as a vibrant retail zone before she agrees to renovating the department store and keeping its headquarters there. The leases on part of two of its buildings expire in 2016. While Downtown has had some sprucing up, Grenier says the location’s future depends on what city leaders do to improve the central business district’s safety and appearance.
