Gov. Charlie Crist signed a bill into law on Monday to encourage brownfield redevelopment through increased state tax credits. The measure defines brownfields as properties where expansion, redevelopment or reuse is complicated by environmental contamination. The tax credits will be awarded based on the removal, management and reuse of solid landfills or dump sites as part of their cleanup or development. The law also adds a new state tax credit incentive to encourage the construction of health care facilities on those sites.
