Broward new homes remain tough sell

Sales of new homes in June fell nationally for the seventh time in the past eight months, but not as much as pessimists expected. While this has spurred hopes that the housing collapse may be near a bottom, in Broward County new homes are still a tough sell. The Commerce Department reported Friday that sales of new single-family homes in the U.S. dropped 0.6 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 530,000 units. That was less than half the decline that had been expected, and the May performance was revised up a bit.
