Gov plans mortgage broker qualification revamp

Gov. Charlie Crist and his cabinet will meet today in what could be the
first step towards overhauling the state’s mortgage industry licensing
procedures. The state is acting to reform the mortgage business after a
Miami Herald investigation revealed that thousands of people with
criminal records were able broker loans despite licensing restrictions
against convicted felons. Some went on to commit millions of dollars
worth of fraud.
