Innkeeper seeks beach rescue

As the sand sweeps away from South Palm Beach, Joe Paloka, one of
the members of the family that owns Palm Beach Oceanfront Inn at 3550
South Ocean Boulevard, wants municipal help. Town Manager Rex Taylor
and Vice Mayor Chuck McCrosson have inspected the erosion but do not
have the authority to declare a state of emergency for the waterfront.
The state retains authority over the beaches, Taylor says.
