The Sheraton Yankee Trader hotel, the Fort Lauderdale landmark closed
in June for renovation, has secured financing for its $84 million
conversion into the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. The 433-room
hotel at 321 North Fort Lauderdale Boulevard will give rooms a facelift
and expand its convention space to 32,000 square feet. The new Westin
is scheduled to open February 1, 2009 and will continue to be managed
by Starwood Hotels.
