The Federal Housing Finance Agency and other federal government
agencies said yesterday they would speed up the process for
renegotiating overdue
home loans held by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. One out of every 124
Florida homes was in foreclosure in September, and renegotiating the
loans could help area homeowners. The new program will go into effect
December 15, but officials
said they did not yet know how many homeowners would qualify.
