Auto dealer Norman Braman has lost his lawsuit against the Florida Marlins, which challenged the funding plan for the new Marlins
stadium, calling it a “shell game” designed to prevent a vote on huge public spending. A recent Florida ruling,
which said that a public vote is not required for using tax-increment financing
for public projects, offered a precedent for the Marlins case. The Marlins
project is part of a $3 billion megaplan that uses tax-increment
financing. Braman has said he will appeal.
