The El-Ad FL plan for a shorefront hotel and underground parking garage
has residents concerned that it may be vulnerable to storms and that
construction could undermine the stability of neighboring buildings.
El-Ad won City Commission approval Nov. 4 to build a 19-story,
256-room hotel with 41 residential condos on the top floors and 8,000
square feet of restaurants on the bottom. Construction officials on the
development team for the hotel, at 2939 Banyan Street near Fort
Lauderdale beach, said they’re confident their plan is sound and meets
state and federal requirements.
