Foreclosure actions jump 128 percent

Foreclosure actions filed in South Florida increased 128 percent in 2008, according to data released today by Condo Vultures. The lis pendens and notices of defaults filed against 75,730 properties last year amount to $19.4 billion. In 2007, 33,154 foreclosure actions were filed in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, adding up to $8.2 billion. Forty-three percent of the foreclosure actions in 2008 were filed in Broward County, 32 percent in Palm Beach, and 25 percent in Miami-Dade. TRD
