The St. Petersburg architecture firm Harvard Jolly won the design
contract for a $3.6 million emergency operations center next to the
Palm Beach Gardens city hall. The planned 10,000-square-foot building
would withstand Category 5 winds and be the permanent home for police
dispatch, centralized communications, a records archive and the
broadcast station for the city’s emergency radio station. The final
proposal still must be approved by the council before construction can
begin. City officials hope to start construction in September and
finish a year later.
