Palm Beach erosion worries residents

Residents of the shoreline area known as Reach 7 say anti-erosion
measures haven’t succeeded and have hired their own consultant to
dispute the assessment of Palm Beach officials, who say erosion safeguards will remain effective for another five years. Erickson Consulting
Engineers, of Sarasota, said the sand the town dredged from offshore
and placed on Reach 7 in 2006 was too fine and not compatible with the
native sand. It also said the town should have placed more sand during construction. People living in condos there say they are now vulnerable to storm damage.
