Fasano mulls freeze on Citizens rates

Sen. Mike Fasano wants to freeze Citizens Property Insurance rates in
the midst of the recession. Fasano, a Republican from New Port Richey,
who serves on the senate’s banking and insurance committee, is drafting
a bill to halt rate increases. At the same time, a task force exploring
how to shrink the state-backed Citizens, Florida’s largest property
insurer, has its final meeting this week.
