By the end of 2008, South Florida was no longer home to the worst
housing declines, and the state’s job losses were no longer the
nation’s most severe. The state ranked second in the United States for
job losses in 2008, while the fall in South Florida’s home prices
turned out to be only the fourth worst in 29 major urban areas. Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Francisco
saw worse property valuation drops.
