City commissioners have approved a pair of park projects that will
boost construction activity in the area and could make Miramar the
first Florida city to have a municipal building with Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, status. The commission
recently granted a $1.5 million construction contract to Miami Skyline
Construction Corp. to begin the initial work on the new Vizcaya Park, a
project with a total value of about $5.5 million. Fairway Park, at 7300
Largo Drive, is getting a face-lift and some upgrades. The city awarded
a $440,000 contract to Bradanna to construct a new building at the park.
