George Gill, a Fort Lauderdale presence whose company gave the city the Sheraton Yankee Clipper and Yankee Trader hotels, has died at the age of 93. Gill was a power in making the town a college spring break destination, and later worked to curb the tradition’s excesses. He served on the Broward County Tourist Development Council and the Florida Commission on Tourism.
