Overtown development battle escalates

Miami and Miami-Dade County may head for court to determine the fate of three land parcels in Overtown originally designated for housing developments. The county reclaimed the land from the city but has not been able to work out details on how to proceed. The Sawyer’s Walk development has drawn objections for failing to include sufficient affordable housing, County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson said. Developer Crosswinds Communities planned to build 1,050 units in the project.
