Palm Beach Gardens-based developer Kitson & Partners is partnering with Florida Power & Light to create what the company describes as the first solar-powered city. The power company will construct a solar plant at the 17,000-square-foot Babcock Ranch development north of Fort Myers. The plant will create more power during daylight hours than the city would use in one 24-hour period, leaving the city with a net carbon footprint of zero, said Lisa Hall, Kitson’s spokesperson. Solar plant construction could start later this year and construction of the city center could begin next year.
