General Growth Properties, the nation’s second-largest owner of shopping malls, filed the biggest real estate bankruptcy in U.S. history, but its South Florida properties will continue to operate as it reorganizes. General owns Bayside Marketplace, Pembroke Lakes Mall, the Village of Merrick Park and Mizner Park in Boca Raton. Only three South Florida malls are part of the bankruptcy filing.
