Brokers say there’s anecdotal evidence that suggests
home prices have fallen enough to attract potential homebuyers to
the market. U.S. home prices fell a record 8.2 percent in 2008,
according to the Federal Finance Housing board, and a recent survey by
Century 21 Real Estate shows that 78 percent of the people surveyed
believe now is a good time to buy a house. In the survey, 68 percent
of people said they think it’s a better time to buy a home now than it was six months ago.
Housing experts say that low mortgage interest rates and tax credits
for first-time buyers are drawing interest in the market.
