A group of property owners and developers are hoping to clean up the rail corridor that passes through the rundown Overtown neighborhood of Miami. Property owner Brad Knoefler spent $1.2 million eight years ago to turn a warehouse into a loft building, and now Knoefler is working with other area owners and developers to lobby for $1.3 million in funding to continue reshaping the neighborhood. The group, Guerilla Urban Planners, wants to create walking and bike paths and hopes to draw artists, restaurants and cafes to the neighborhood. These improvements would also bring up property values in the area.
