State Farm, which is leaving Florida under a contentious cloud, will get its last word in at a hearing approved by Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty. The commissioner wants to prevent State Farm’s 1.2 million policy holders from being pushed onto Citizens Property Insurance, the state-run insurer of last resort, which is under orders to limit its potential liabilities and is headed for rate increases. State Farm wants to avoid having to pay the advertising costs associated with selling its properties to other insurers.
