Hotel buzz in South Beach continues

Miami hasn’t escaped the recession, but a half dozen new or nearly ready to open boutique hotels around glitzy South Beach show that escapism is alive and well. Jeremy Sutton of the agency Quintessentially Travel said locales like South Beach and other global vacation spots such as Aspen, St-Tropez, Marbella and Capri are recession resistant, though not immune. Vacationers for whom price was once no object are shopping for bargains and cutting back spending, reported the Annual Survey of Affluence and Wealth in America, published in April by Harrison Group and American Express Publishing.
