School repair contracts disputed

Broward School District officials said auditors misidentified invoices from contactors and that they had not been overcharged. Repairs done after Hurricane Wilma were done in a hurry, and contracts were drawn hastily by hand in an environment without electricity, not falsified, said Denis Herrmann, the district’s director of design and construction contracts. Auditors seek a $765,608 refund from contractor AshBritt Inc. for portable classrooms, but the differences have not been resolved.
