One in six appraisers who surrendered his license or had it revoked in Florida or California since 2005 kept his real estate sales or brokers license, a Center for Public Integrity investigation of the two states found. Some of the former appraisers took jobs with appraisal management companies, according to the study. Authorities in both states say most of the violations that could cause an appraiser to lose his or her license should also result in the loss of a real estate agent’s license, but that state agencies did not always share information. Florida revoked or accepted the return of 60 appraisal licenses since 2005, the study found, and 19 of those former appraisers held onto their real estate sales licenses. TRD
