Trying to sell your timeshare? Be careful

The recession was just as unkind to the timeshare market as it was to
the home market, and as people look to unload their once-a-week
getaways, new issues are emerging with the companies that offer to help
re-sell them. Many situations involve paying money to a company, on the
premise that a buyer is lined up, and then never hearing from it again
— or getting one’s money back. Florida has 25 percent of timeshares in
the United States, and last year, there were actually more complaints
about timeshare re-sales than there were about mortgage issues in
Florida, according to consumer protection groups. [Miami Herald]
