Mixed week for South Florida hotels

Hotel occupancy was up in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties last week,
while it fell in Broward County, according to data from Smith Travel
Research. Palm Beach County’s occupancy rate rose to 53.8 percent, up
from 50.2 percent in the same week in 2009. The number for Miami-Dade
County rose to 68.1 percent, the highest in the tri-county area, and
Broward’s occupancy fell to just 60.5 percent from 64.3 percent.
Nationally, occupancy rose to 65.3 percent from 60.4 percent. Miami-Dade
County still boasted South Florida’s highest average daily room rate,
up 1.4 percent to $113.67, while Palm Beach County’s rate fell to $91.73
and Broward County’s rate fell to $83.77. [SFBJ]
