Suits say lenders change locks before filing foreclosures

Lenders are breaking records this year in taking back properties from
delinquent borrowers, but some homeowners and attorneys are alleging
that property preservations companies that lenders hire to change door
locks are being a bit hasty in performing their job. A group of lawsuits
recently filed in Florida allege that locks have been changed on homes
before foreclosure actions were even filed, with additional charges
being levied on homeowners for lawn maintenance and trash removal when homeowners associations already perform those services. One suit alleges that a man working
for a property preservation company stole a computer, a drill and
several bottles of wine from a Punta Gorda home while there to change
the locks. [Palm
