Habitat for Humanity is in the middle of a building boom in Miami,
centered on the Liberty City neighborhood. With more than 2,000
volunteers helping, the group expects to complete 10 new homes in 13
days. “We’re so excited, we’re ready to move now,” said Kizzy Robinson, a
public service aide for the City of Miami. Habitat CEO Mario Artecona
said the company was hoping the construction of new homes would build
new communities. “What we hope to do with these houses is give folks a
little push out of poverty and give them a sense of ownership and roots,
which has an immense effect on how they view the future.” [Miami
