A Star Island estate formerly owned by Rob “Vanilla Ice” Van Winkle, the rapper-turned-reality show home renovation expert, is back on the market for $14.9 million. According to Curbed, Van Winkle lived in the nine-bedroom mansion during his rise to “Ice Ice Baby” fame, enjoying the 100 feet of waterfrontage and pool. As Van Winkle told The Real Deal last year, he now lives in Wellington and has built a veritable real estate empire through house flipping and remodeling. His DIY Network reality show, “The Vanilla Ice Project,” chronicles his team of remodelers as they gut renovate a foreclosed Wellington mansion. [Curbed]

Ice is a very articulate and polite young man. He deserves all the success he has achieved. He was smart enough to find an honest profession to fall back on when the music stopped–and it always does. Most entertainers, sports figures, etc. think their popularity will last forever and have nothing saved when it suddenly stops. With his great success in his reality show, he is even back in demand more than ever as an entertainer.
