Dania Jai-Alai, the pari-mutuel in Broward County, is being sold to a
group of private investors for $80 million. The transaction for the
site, which was purchased by Boyd Gaming Corporation in 2006, is slated
for completion by Sept. 26. The plans of the group of investors, called
Dania Entertainment, are still unclear. “We’ve disclosed all we’re able
to disclose about them,” said David Strow, a spokesperson for Boyd,
which sold the property. But at a price of $80 million, it is likely the
buyers have a casino in mind. “I can’t imagine anybody buying that
property and not wanting to start casino operations,” said Joe Weinert
of Spectrum Gaming Group, a gambling consulting firm. [Miami
