A party to fight foreclosure

Foreclosure-plagued Lawn Acres, a 290-home community in Hollywood, is
looking to a new strategy to help owners stave off foreclosures: a
party. Eleanor Leinen, a resident in the area, said a lot of homeowners
don’t know how to talk about their problems until it’s too late. “We
don’t know what is happening behind closed doors,” she said. “We have to
be constantly vigilant.” Leinen hopes that the party, which will take
place Saturday, will help Lawn Acres residents get motivated in fighting
off the actions and paying their mortgages. “I pray every day that
there is a turnaround,” said Evelyn “Cookie” Santana, who lives in Lawn
