Miami Heat owner Micky Arison has issued a warning on Genting’s proposed
casino resort in downtown Miami — which would be just a few blocks
from the American Airlines Arena. The casino would not just be a huge
traffic problem, but might disrupt the city’s rebirth. “We’re on a roll,
and I’m not sure this is the right way to continue it,” he said.
Another site in Miami is also being looked at for a casino by the Las
Vegas Sands group. Genting spokesperson Tadd Schwartz said the company
was working to address any potential traffic problems, and that with the
amount of revenue potentially heading the city’s way, it would be
“better for downtown.” [Miami
